Make sure that your code is set up correctly using this free tool: SiteScan (http://www.sitescanga.com/). Type in your URL and it gives you a complete audit of your Analytics setup. If you don’t use Google Analytics already, sign up for the free service and send us the code to add to your site. It’s easy and inexpensive!
Length of Domain Name Ownership vs. Search Engine Rankings
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008A few people have asked us lately if the length of time that they own their domain name has an impact on their site’s search engine rankings. That is, if buying your domain name for 3, 5, 10 years or beyond gets you a better ranking than if you renew your domain name one year at a time. While there no way to know for sure, we do know that Google looks at domain registrations and most likely this does have an impact on rankings. The thought is that the length of your registration is a sign of how serious you are about your business and a shorter registration may indicate a spammer registering throw-away domains. We say that since you usually get a better rate by registering a name for multiple years, you might as well!
